The Purpose of the Social Media Toolkit
Social media has become an integral part of our daily lives, providing us with a platform to connect with others, share information, and keep up with the latest trends. With the increasing popularity of social media, it has become an essential tool for businesses and organizations to promote their products and services. However, creating an effective social media announcement can be challenging, especially for those who are new to the field. To address this challenge, the social media announcement toolkit was created. This toolkit provides businesses and organizations with the necessary resources to create engaging and effective social media announcements.
Target Audience
The social media announcement toolkit has a specific target audience — students who want to make professional social media for organizations and businesses — especially those who are new to social media marketing. We provide pre-designed templates, guidelines, and best practices. This toolkit gives an overview of key concepts, tools, and practices for creating engaging and effective social media announcement for organizations and businesses. Much of it will also apply to using your own personal media accounts for professional purposes.
Manal Lakrad
Manal has prior experience in social media management & marketing. She was in charge of all the DDE social media channels, where she connected everything to Canva where students designed a lot of the visuals and content used for the project. Manal could choose and select social media posts to be scheduled on our platforms while ensuring the designs aligned with the brand's voice and standards. Manal was also in charge of teaching digital scholars how to use Canva professionally and helping them deliver high-quality content. Finally, Manal will be handing over all of the digital assets to the summer students to continue the efforts she has started.
Social Media and DDE
The inclusion of social media education within the Dear Digital Equity program has proven to be immensely valuable to its students. Recognizing the ubiquitous role of social media in contemporary society, the program ensures that students are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in the digital landscape. By studying social media within an academic setting, students gained a deep understanding of its underlying principles, its impact on communication and culture, and its potential for innovation. This education empowered these students to become adept digital practitioners who can leverage social media as a powerful tool for creative expression, networking, and community engagement. Additionally, the program focused on social media but also provided students with a competitive advantage in various fields, including marketing, journalism, and public relations, where proficiency in social media strategies and analytics is increasingly sought after. Overall, including social media education within the University of Washington Bothell's DDE program has played a pivotal role in preparing students to excel in the digital age and make meaningful contributions to the evolving landscape of social media.
